The Yamaha RX-V667 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver was next on my list of HDMI receivers to research. The silent cinema feature allows you to receive cinema quality sound through headphones and the virtual feature gives you that same sound without having surround sound speakers. Another unique attribute of this HDMI receiver is that when it’s connected to your flat panel HDTV via HDMI, an advanced GUI (graphical user interface) appears. Similar to other receivers I have been looking at the Yamaha RX-V667 does not come with a warranty. You can however purchase a warranty if you want to have that added protection and peace of mind. A warranty for this Yamaha HDMI receiver will run you about $70 for a 4 year that covers electronics and $76 for a 3 year that covers electronics and some accidents.
iPhone Compatibility
The RX-V667 is iPhone and iPod compatible via a supported dock, which can be purchased separately. If you don’t have an iPhone but still want access to great music, keep in mind the RX-V667 is Sirius Satellite ready.
Friendly to the Average User?
From the research I did on this receiver it appears that once set up the features are very easy to use and the instruction manual easy to follow. This receiver is also rated high for user interface and connectivity.

Any Negatives?
During my research I did not find many complaints on this receiver. One person did say that the system was a bit difficult to set up but several others said they had no problems, so this may depend on the individual.
